History

Bremen: in 1965, businessman Günter Schilling founded the initially small family business INTER-MERCADOR at his residence. His passion for electronics enabled the company founder to quickly recognise the potential of Far Eastern electronic components for the European market. With products such as the telephone amplifier INTERMERC TM-70, he started in the field of security technology, followed by a large product portfolio for PA technology and speaker technology.

After two relocations, a change of name and some successful changes to the product range, MONACOR INTERNATIONAL has become a worldwide manufacturer and solution provider for professional PA applications. More than 55 years later, B2B customers from the installation sector and the retail trade benefit from a tailor-made concept of specialised products and a unique service.

The Founding Spirit

Company founder Günter Schilling starts to import products from Asia and quickly realises the potential of electronic components and products for the European market. With the help of two employees only, he carries out intensive groundwork. The founder's residence also serves as the first company headquarters of the initially small family business.

1969

Roll up Your Sleeves - for Actively Developing a Product Range

The product range is extended rapidly. With items such as the telephone amplifier INTERMERC TM-70, the company which was founded under the name INTER-MERCADOR, is entering the field of security technology.

MONACOR - Successful Implementation of a Brand

The brand MONACOR is introduced which represents reliable and high-quality electronics. To this day, these tried and tested characteristics convince a great number of customers.

Moving from the Residential Premises

After almost 7 years at his own residence, the company's first move takes place to the administration and storage building in Sonneberger Straße, Bremen's Vahr district.

The World of PA Technology

At the beginning of the 70s, the first trendsetting step towards PA and speaker technology is taken. In addition to surveillance cameras and speakers, the extensive product range now also includes audio mixers, amplifiers and matching accessories.

MONARCH - High-quality Technology for Musicians and Hi-fi Technology

The company presents another reliable brand: MONARCH. For many technology enthusiasts, it is still a well-known name for reliable hi-fi components. Over time, the product range is extended with high-quality musical instruments and suitable equipment for musicians.

Represented Worldwide

At the beginning of the 80s, the company opens its first branch abroad. With a total of 10 holdings which act as hubs at key locations and numerous other distributors, the company has got a well-established international sales network. Go Trade Fair - Interpersonal Skills to Strengthen Working Relationships

The company takes part as an exhibitor at the trade show HANNOVER MESSE for the first time, then at THE music trade show and later at the Prolight & Sound in Frankfurt on the Main.

Even Bigger, Even Better!

The company continues to grow steadily and the premises in Sonneberger Straße are becoming too small. The former INTER-MERCADOR GmbH & Co KG Import - Export decides to move to its current location in Bremen Mahndorf. The 35,000 m² site includes an administrative complex with offices and workshops as well as an 11,000 m² distribution centre which is equipped with the latest order picking technology for moving goods across Europe.

1981

The GOLDEN TECHNICA

The relocation also marks the launch of a new brand: GOLDEN TECHNICA. The product range comprises 500 items from the fields of stage and event technology and supplies numerous wholesale customers.

1990

img Stage Line - Let's go Professional Audio

The company already recognised the potential in event technology some years earlier. In 1990, the existing lines MONARCH Stage Line and MONACOR Stage Line are merging to form a new brand which is characterised by live sound: img Stage Line. The brand addresses a new music-inspired target group.

CARPOWER - Passion for the Car Audio Scene

The brand starts with the state-of-the-art subwoofer RAPTOR-12, followed by further top developments in various power amplifier series as well as with the impressive subwoofers and speaker systems. Hobby enthusiasts love this brand which has become a top-ranking name in the car audio scene over the years.

New Logo, New Name, Same Reliable Service

INTER-MERCADOR GmbH & Co KG Import - Export becomes MONACOR INTERNATIONAL GmbH & Co KG. In addition to the reliable and traditional brand name MONACOR, the new name demonstrates the company's international orientation as well as the close working relationship with the branch offices abroad.

Strong Support - For Us, Our Company and Our Business Partners

In 2001, the founder withdrew from the company, but his support and passion remain unchanged.  In 1992, Günter Schilling formed the family foundation GÜNTER SCHILLING FAMILIENSTIFTUNG and in 1995, the GÜNTER & SONNHILD SCHILLING FAMILIENSTIFTUNG which act as main shareholders and thus are sole owners of MONACOR INTERNATIONAL GmbH & Co KG. Our colleagues are not the only ones who greatly appreciate this backing and support. For our customers and partners, the foundations' support primarily means: trust and reliability in every situation.

2006

Just True Sound

MONACOR INTERNATIONAL becomes the exclusive distribution partner for wireless and microphone technology from JTS. The user-oriented design is a feature which still impresses today and is reflected in the technology and appearance of all products.

2015

We can also Celebrate

Celebration of the company's big 50th anniversary. Together with national and international guests, we celebrate for several days, look back a little and focus on our common future.

2016

New Look and Feel for img Stage Line

The previously known brand img Stage Line becomes IMG STAGELINE. We put a special focus on the brand identity and address the target group with new and interesting contents. The products also change. The appearance and technology of amplifiers, mixers, etc. are matched to customers' requirements.

2018

The All-round Solution Provider

The brand MONACOR shows itself with a new brand logo at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2018 in Amsterdam. The new look is clear and convincing but still focusses on its origin. With the new logo and revised product design, the company sets a new trendsetting orientation to becoming an all-round solution provider. In addition to the brand relaunch, the popular customer brochure Audio Solution Guide and an online configurator for PA projects are launched.
